ABOUT
Hi, I'm Jarrett.
I've always been curious about how things work. I grew up in Washington with three siblings, and I spent as much time with books and computers as I did playing sports or tinkering with whatever caught my interest. That curiosity never left. It grew into a passion for building, solving problems and learning new things.
I'm a software engineer, and JDF Builds is the one-person studio where I publish the apps I make. I work mostly in React, Next.js and TypeScript, and I'm especially interested in what AI can do when it's put to practical, honest use. FloraPulse's plant doctor is a good example: a tool that looks at a photo of your plant and tells you what it sees.
My path here has been varied, and each stretch taught me something. I've built AI-powered products as a frontend engineer. I ran my own home inspection business in Olympia for almost five years, where I handled everything from the website and the books to the inspections and the people. Before that I worked in sales and procurement, where I learned how much clear communication and trust shape a good working relationship.
My academic background is in Philosophy, Psychology and Sociology, and it still shapes how I think about technology. Behind every system there are people, and the real goal of what I build is to make life a little easier, smarter or more meaningful for them.
What motivates me most is making things that last: a smooth experience, a simple workflow, or a tool that helps someone make a confident decision. I believe curiosity, persistence and empathy are what it takes to build things that matter.
JDF Builds is a one-person studio. When you email support, you are writing to the person who built the app.
